It’s impossible to be your best at all times. Reaching your optimal state of wellbeing is about forming consistent habits that you can use on a daily basis to live a healthy life. As life happens, it’s inevitable that at some points your wellness routine and good habits will take a back seat.
When you do find yourself off course, it’s crucial to have the proper tools in place to get you back on track in a reasonable amount of time so you do not completely spiral in the wrong direction, losing all the hard work you have put in.
To support you in maintaining your wellness goals, here are some steps, tactics, and mindset shifts to get you back on track when you feel your routine slipping.
1. Self Awareness & Forgiveness
The first step to getting back on track is to be aware that your behavior and or routine has changed in the first place. For example, if you are on vacation and are drinking more alcohol and eating more food than normal, realizing that this is not your new norm, and you plan on getting back to your normal routine once you get back home.
Forgiving yourself is an important step to getting back on track. We all make mistakes, after all, we’re only human. What really matters is what you do when you make that mistake.
Furthermore, research actually shows that self-compassion and forgiveness are highly related to success. Self-compassion is shown to lead to an increase in motivation, boost happiness, improve body image, enhance self-worth and reduce psychological distress.
2. Start Small & Be Consistent
Looking at the end goal can oftentimes seem very daunting and intimidating. When you look at the bigger picture it’s easy to get lost and end up not started to begin with.
Starting small is the easiest way to combat this. It will allow you to build momentum into something much larger. Ask yourself, what are some actionable goals I can do today to get to where I want to be?
When it comes to small actions, consistency is key. Consistent, small actions over time always lead to something much larger!
If you are still finding yourself stressed out, try taking CBD. Personally, I use it when I am stressed out. It helps chill me out so I can stay focused on the small, everyday tasks I need to complete to get to where I want to be.

3. Support System
Last but not least, having good people around you makes getting back on track so much easier. Surround yourself with positive people that will help hold you accountable.
If you do not have any family and friends you feel comfortable relying on this, find a group on social media. There are a ton of different wellness and health groups to choose from, and odds are you will find someone going through the same things you are. Not only will you find the support you need at that moment but you can help someone on their own journey.
